
Meeting of District Lahore Office-Bearers Chaired by Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore Ziauddin Ansari Advocate
Lahore: An important meeting of office-bearers of Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore was held at Syed Maududi Islamic Centre under the chairmanship of Ziauddin Ansari, Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore. The participants paid tribute to the office-bearers for the success of the four-day public referendum and expressed satisfaction over the successful establishment of 1,400 polling camps across Lahore.The meeting was attended by Secretary General Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore Azhar Bilal; Naib Ameer Lahore Engineer Ikhlaq Ahmed, Malik Shahid Aslam, Khalid Ahmed Butt, Waqas Ahmed Butt and Chaudhry Muhammad Shaukat, along with deputy secretaries, district ameer and secretaries, heads and secretaries of various departments, and other office-bearers.Addressing the meeting, Ziauddin Ansari Advocate stated that the party would not allow the government to establish a marketplace of horse-trading through the so-called black local government law. He said the Local Government Act is anti-people and the struggle against it would be further organized and intensified. He emphasized that Jamaat-e-Islami’s movement would continue until the complete abolition of all anti-people clauses.He categorically stated that the Government of Punjab would not be allowed to evade local government elections, nor would there be any permission to divide the metropolitan city into towns.Condemning unannounced load-shedding, gas shortages and rising inflation, he said the public is already under severe economic pressure, while flawed government policies have further aggravated citizens’ hardships. He also termed traffic-related issues and exorbitant fines as anti-people measures.Issuing directions to the party office-bearers, he urged them to remain prepared for a major protest on the call of Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, adding that if required, Jamaat-e-Islami would not hesitate to stage a sit-in outside the Punjab Assembly or the Chief Minister’s House.
