Transparent Audit System and Public Trust Reflect Surayya Azeem (Waqf) Hospital’s Exemplary Performance

Lahore: The Annual Performance Report 2025 of Surayya Azeem (Waqf) Hospital has been formally released. On this occasion, President of the Governing Body Surayya Azeem (Waqf) Hospital and Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore, Mr. Ziauddin Ansari Advocate, gave a detailed media briefing. Secretary Governing Body Mr. Iftikhar Ahmad Chaudhry, Medical Superintendent Dr. Fawad Noor, and other officials were also present.While addressing the media, Mr. Ziauddin Ansari stated that during 2025, the hospital provided outpatient (OPD) services to 279,334 patients, while 7,748 patients received indoor treatment. He highlighted that more than Rs. 112.3 million were spent on treatment, medicines, and medical facilities for poor and deserving patients.He further informed that the Emergency Department treated over 141,000 patients at a nominal fee of Rs. 100, while 33,556 patients were provided consultation services by specialist consultants during morning hours at Rs. 200 only.According to the annual report, the Radiology Department conducted 14,787 X-rays and 33,395 ultrasounds. The Dialysis Center facilitated 2,630 patients, while the hospital laboratory provided diagnostic services to 29,850 individuals. The Thalassemia Center regularly provided blood transfusion services to 30 children.Mr. Ansari added that Sehat Sahulat Card facilities are available in the departments of Pediatrics, Dialysis, Orthopedics, and Surgery. The Blood Bank, Laboratory, Gynecology Emergency, Pediatric Emergency, and General Emergency departments are operational 24/7. Admitted patients receive quality medicines from the hospital pharmacy at a 10% discount.He further shared that over Rs. 18.8 million were spent on development projects during 2025. The Institute of Allied Health Sciences operating within the hospital continues to offer diploma programs for Medical Laboratory Technology, Pharmacy, X-Ray Technology, Operation Theater Technicians, and Dispensers.Highlighting future plans, he stated that expansion of the hospital, installation of a modern lift system, construction of ramps, upgradation of operation theaters, and procurement of advanced medical equipment are included in the upcoming development strategy.In conclusion, the President Governing Body appealed to philanthropists, particularly the citizens of Lahore, to donate generously—especially during the holy month of Ramadan—to support free and quality healthcare services for the underprivileged. He assured that a transparent audit system is in place to ensure proper utilization of donations.
