Government Must Take Immediate and Practical Steps Instead of Symbolic Measures
Administration Fails to Curb Profiteering; Public Deserves Real Relief.

Lahore: The Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore Zia-ud-Din Ansari Advocate has strongly condemned the alarming increase in the prices of essential commodities and widespread profiteering during the holy month of Ramadan. He stated that the current wave of inflation is a clear contradiction of the government’s claims of providing relief to the public. He said that price control committees, enforcement teams, and relevant departments have completely failed to regulate market prices, leaving the common citizen to bear the brunt of unchecked inflation. According to him, the tall claims regarding Ramadan bazaars and relief initiatives do not reflect the ground realities. Zia-ud-Din Ansari Advocate further stated that the people of Punjab are facing severe hardship due to inflation, unemployment, and rising living costs. Announcements regarding help lines and doorstep ration delivery appear limited to social media statements rather than visible, effective implementation. He demanded that the government move beyond symbolic and publicity-driven measures and take immediate, practical, and effective steps. Strict action must be taken against profiteering in Ramadan bazaars, genuine subsidies should be ensured on flour, pulses, and other essential items, and significant reductions should be made in the prices of ghee, rice, chicken, and other basic necessities to provide real relief to the public. He warned that if the administration fails to take prompt and effective action, public frustration and unrest may intensify, and the responsibility will rest with the concerned authorities.
