Pakistan Needs Honest and Principled Leadership Reflecting the People’s Aspirations

Lahore: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore Zia-ud-Din Ansari Advocate while addressing an Iftar dinner gathering, stated that the current rulers are undermining national sovereignty and dignity by pursuing policies rooted in subservience to the United States. He said that democracy in the country has been weakened, while tendencies of personalized and authoritarian rule are gaining strength, resulting in the aggravation of public problems and institutional instability.He emphasized that Pakistan urgently requires honest, principled, and competent leadership that truly represents the aspirations of the people and is committed to transforming the country into a just and welfare-oriented state. Jamaat-e-Islami, he asserted, will not allow any form of monarchic or dynastic politics to prevail and will continue its struggle for constitutional supremacy, transparent accountability, and protection of public rights. Zia-ud-Din Ansari further stated that the streets and neighborhoods of Lahore continue to suffer from poor sanitation, broken infrastructure, and lack of basic civic facilities, while selective road projects and ceremonial inaugurations are being projected as signs of development. He remarked that symbolic projects and publicity campaigns cannot address the real issues faced by citizens, and that meaningful reform requires comprehensive systemic change and sincere governance.He concluded by saying that the holy month of Ramadan teaches integrity, justice, and service to humanity. If these principles are sincerely adopted by those in power, Pakistan can overcome its current economic and social challenges. Genuine and comprehensive change of the system, he maintained, remains the only viable path toward national progress and stability.
