Bhati Gate Tragedy Is Not an Accident but a Result of Gross Administrative Negligence.
Lahore: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore Ziauddin Ansari Advocate has expressed deep sorrow, grief, and strong anger over the tragic incident in the Bhati Gate area, where a mother and her nine-month-old daughter lost their lives after falling into an open sewer. He stated that this was not a mere accident but a consequence of severe administrative negligence, incompetence, and criminal irresponsibility.He raised serious questions, asking who is responsible for the numerous open sewers across the city and who will be held accountable for the loss of innocent lives. The Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore expressed regret that immediately after the incident, the Lahore administration irresponsibly declared reports of the woman and child falling into the sewer as false. Had the incident been taken seriously from the very beginning and a timely rescue operation launched, precious human lives could have been saved.Ziauddin Ansari Advocate further stated that Saadia a resident of Shorkot,along with her nine-month-old infant daughter, fell into the open sewer due to darkness. The subsequent recovery of their bodies from an open drain is clear evidence of the worst performance and failure of the concerned authorities.He demanded strict legal action against all responsible officers and relevant departments, and accountability of those officials who failed to take immediate action after the incident. He emphasized that Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore will continue to raise its voice on every forum for the protection of citizens’ lives and property and will not remain silent over such tragic incidents.
