Lahore: On the appeal of Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, protest demonstrations were held across various areas of Lahore on the occasion of Labour Day against rising inflation, increase in petroleum prices, and the current solar policy. A large number of party workers, laborers, traders, and citizens participated in the protests and expressed strong concerns over the government’s economic policies.The central protest was held at Mansoorah under the leadership of Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore Ziauddin Ansari Advocate. Deputy Secretary General Abdul Aziz Abid, Zone Ameer Muhammad Shafiq Malik, Hafiz Mazhar Jillani, along with a large number of workers and local residents, were also present on the occasion.Addressing the participants, Ziauddin Ansari stated that the recent increase in petroleum prices has further intensified inflation, directly impacting the daily lives of ordinary citizens. He noted that the continuous rise in the prices of essential commodities and utility bills has become unbearable for the public.He further stated that the current solar policy is hindering the promotion of alternative energy and is creating additional difficulties for consumers instead of providing relief. He urged the government to immediately reduce petroleum prices, review the solar policy, and ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity and gas. He also emphasized the need for practical measures to safeguard the rights of workers and provide relief to the general public.Protests were also organized in multiple localities of Lahore under the leadership of local representatives. Demonstrations took place at Akbar Chowk (PP-162), Ameen Park, Ghazi Abad, Bedian and Barki Road, Hasnain Abad, China Scheme (PP-150), Minhala Adda, Manga Mandi, Walton Road, Daroghawala GT Road, Raiwind Road (Sher Shah Colony), Johar Town, and Sanda Road (PP-173).Participants carried banners and placards highlighting their demands and raising slogans against inflation. The protesters warned that if the government fails to take immediate and serious steps to address public issues, the scope of the protest movement will be expanded. They reaffirmed their commitment to continue a peaceful and democratic struggle for the rights of the people.
