Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore Announces Protest on July 10 Against Increase in Petroleum Prices



Peaceful Protest to be Held at Achhra, Ferozepur Road on Friday, July 10, at 5:30 PM: Ziauddin Ansari Advocate


Lahore: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore Ziauddin Ansari Advocate has announced a peaceful protest against the recent increase in petroleum prices, terming the government’s decision anti-people and economically devastating for the common citizen.He made the announcement while addressing an important meeting of the Public Aid Committee of Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore. The meeting was attended by Secretary Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore Azhar Bilal, Deputy Ameers Khalid Ahmad Butt and Waqas Ahmad Butt, President Public Aid Committee Qaiser Sharif, Secretary Shahid Naveed Malik, Deputy Secretary Abdul Aziz Abid, Aamir Noor Khan, along with other committee office-bearers.Addressing the participants, Ziauddin Ansari said that burdening inflation-hit citizens with further economic hardships was completely unacceptable. He stated that the continuous increase in petroleum prices, soaring electricity bills, and the rising cost of essential commodities had made life miserable for ordinary people.He demanded the immediate abolition of the petroleum levy and all taxes imposed on petrol, saying that the government should stop collecting what he described as an unfair levy from the public. He further demanded that the price of petrol be fixed at Rs. 225 per litre for the next three years to provide meaningful relief to the people.He also urged the government to immediately control the prices of flour and LPG and adopt effective emergency measures to curb inflation.The Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore appealed to the general public, youth, traders, transporters, and people from all walks of life to participate wholeheartedly in the peaceful protest scheduled for Friday, July 10, at 5:30 PM at Achhra, Ferozepur Road, and to join the demonstration with their vehicles to register a strong public voice against inflation, excessive electricity bills, and the hike in petroleum prices.He reaffirmed that Jamaat-e-Islami would continue its democratic and constitutional struggle on every available forum to safeguard public rights and secure economic relief for the people.
