LAHORE:Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore has served a legal notice on Sohail Mahmood Butt, President of Anjuman-e-Tajran Mall Road, over allegations of electricity theft made against Jamaat-e-Islami during a television programme.
According to Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore, the allegations made during the programme are baseless and have caused damage to the reputation and standing of Jamaat-e-Islami. The legal notice demands that Sohail Mahmood Butt provide evidence in support of the allegations or tender an unconditional apology within 48 hours.The legal notice states that alleging electricity theft against Jamaat-e-Islami during a television programme caused harm to the organisation’s reputation and standing. It demands that evidence supporting the allegations be provided; otherwise, the statements should be withdrawn and an unconditional apology issued.Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore has made it clear that failure to tender an apology within the stipulated 48-hour period will result in civil and criminal legal proceedings against Sohail Mahmood Butt under the relevant laws.The legal notice was issued on the instructions of Azhhar Bilal, General Secretary Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore, through Dr. Kaleem Javed, Advocate High Court.
