Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore directs office-bearers to launch a door-to-door campaign and public outreach drive
Vows to stand like a wall against petroleum levy, inflation, unemployment and anti-people government policies.
Lahore: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore, Ziauddin Ansari Advocate, has announced a major peaceful wheel-jam protest in Lahore on 7 August 2026, following the nationwide protest call given by Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, against the continuous increase in petroleum prices, the petroleum levy and anti-people economic policies.
Addressing an emergency meeting of district, zonal and JI Youth office-bearers at Syed Maududi Islamic Centre, Ziauddin Ansari described the recent increase in petroleum prices as an anti-public decision. He said that an increase of more than Rs20 per litre within just four days amounts to economic oppression of people already suffering from record inflation.
He stated that repeated increases in fuel prices would trigger further hikes in the prices of essential commodities, transport fares, electricity and other daily necessities, placing an unbearable financial burden on ordinary citizens.
Criticising the government’s economic policies, he said that instead of providing relief, the government continues to impose new waves of inflation. Labourers, farmers, traders, salaried employees and the middle class are facing unprecedented economic hardship, while the government remains indifferent to the public’s suffering.
Announcing the protest, he said Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore would organise a large and peaceful wheel-jam protest across the city on 7 August. He appealed to citizens, traders, transporters, labourers, students and people from all walks of life to participate actively and raise their voice against inflation and unjust economic policies.
The Ameer also directed office-bearers at every organisational level to immediately intensify door-to-door campaigns, public contact drives, market visits and awareness activities to ensure maximum public participation in the August 7 protest.
He reaffirmed that Jamaat-e-Islami would continue its struggle to protect the rights of the people and would remain steadfast against the petroleum levy, soaring inflation, unemployment and anti-public government policies until meaningful relief is provided to the people.
The meeting was attended by Lahore Secretary Azhar Bilal, Deputy Ameers Malik Shahid Aslam and Chaudhry Muhammad Shaukat, along with district ameers, secretaries, zonal office-bearers, JI Youth representatives and a large number of party .
