Super Long March Has Been Postponed, Not Cancelled; Struggle Continues
Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore Ameer Ziauddin Ansari Advocate Addresses Media on Ongoing Movement Against Petroleum Levy۔
LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore Ameer Ziauddin Ansari Advocate has said that the Jamaat-e-Islami’s Super Long March has been postponed, not cancelled, and the struggle continues. Awareness and signature camps will be established at 30 locations across Lahore, where millions of citizens will be contacted and signatures will be collected in support of public demands. Through the signature campaign, the public will be mobilized and the movement will be further intensified.
He expressed these views while speaking to the media regarding the ongoing Jamaat-e-Islami movement against the petroleum levy and discussing the future course of action and upcoming activities in Lahore.
Ziauddin Ansari Advocate further said that Jamaat-e-Islami is raising its voice on the fundamental and genuine issues faced by the people. Expensive flour, costly electricity and the other financial burdens imposed on the public are issues that cannot be ignored any longer. He said that the meeting with the Prime Minister of Pakistan will also include discussion on expensive flour, costly electricity and other public issues.
He said that Jamaat-e-Islami’s history bears witness to the fact that it has always recorded its protests in a peaceful and democratic manner. The recent public gathering at Wahdat Road is also an example of this peaceful democratic struggle. Despite the obstacles created by the Punjab government, thousands of men and women participated in the gathering and recorded their protest peacefully. The participants did not damage any flowerpots or plants along the road, demonstrating the peaceful and democratic nature of Jamaat-e-Islami’s struggle for public rights.
The Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore Ameer said, “We are a serious and patriotic party that speaks for the people. We love our country and want to see Pakistan progress and develop.” He said the objective is not to cause harm to any institution or the state system, but to raise a voice for the resolution of the people’s fundamental problems and protection of their rights.
He said that Jamaat-e-Islami’s struggle for the abolition of the petroleum levy would continue. Through the signature campaign in Lahore, millions of people will be contacted and made aware of the issue, while the movement will be further organized and intensified. He appealed to the nation to support Jamaat-e-Islami’s struggle for public rights.
Ziauddin Ansari Advocate said that if the government fails to accept the public demands, the Super Long March will be launched from Multan with full force and renewed determination. He said that all Jamaat-e-Islami workers and activists in Lahore are enthusiastic, determined and ready to play their role in taking the struggle for public rights to its logical conclusion.
He reiterated that the Super Long March has only been postponed, not cancelled. Jamaat-e-Islami will continue its peaceful and democratic struggle for the resolution of public issues, including inflation, expensive electricity, costly flour and the petroleum levy, as well as other issues affecting the people.
