Lahore — The families of Mazhar and Abbas, who lost their lives in a tragic dumper accident on January 23, 2025, visited the Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore office to seek justice. The bereaved families met Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore, Zia-ud-Din Ansari Advocate, and appealed for the immediate arrest of those involved and the provision of justice.Convener Public Aid Committee Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore, Qaiser Sharif, was also present on the occasion. Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore assured the families of full legal assistance in accordance with the Constitution and law, stating that Jamaat-e-Islami would not abandon the affected families in their struggle for justice.He said that despite the registration of an FIR at Islam Pura Police Station, the accused are still at large, which is highly unfortunate and condemnable. The families also alleged negligence on the part of the police in arresting the accused.Zia-ud-Din Ansari Advocate stated that at least 13 people lost their lives in dumper-related accidents in Lahore during the year 2025. Referring to recent incidents, he said that in Baghbanpura, a high-speed dumper crushed rickshaws and motorcycles, resulting in the deaths of five people, including two minor girls aged 10 and 12. Similarly, three motorcyclists were killed in a dumper accident in Defence Phase C, while three more people lost their lives when a dumper overturned onto a rickshaw in LDA Avenue, Chuhng.The Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore emphasized that families affected by dumper accidents are still awaiting justice. He stressed that mandatory dope tests for dumper drivers are essential, as driving under the influence of drugs has become a major cause of such fatal accidents.He demanded immediate notice from the Chief Minister Punjab and the Inspector General of Police Punjab, calling for the prompt arrest of the dumper drivers responsible for the deaths of Mazhar and Abbas. He also urged Islam Pura Police to take immediate and effective measures to arrest the accused so that justice may be delivered and the lives of citizens protected.
