Government’s Performance on Prolonged Load Shedding, Poor Monsoon Preparedness and Civic Issues is Deeply Disappointing.

End electricity load shedding immediately; governments are run through effective planning, not prayers.

The government must act responsibly.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz should focus on providing public services instead of taking pride in a Rs. 12 billion aircraft.

Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore Ziauddin Ansari Advocate addresses a press conference at Syed Maududi Islamic Centre

Lahore (Umar Hayat CH) Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore Ziauddin Ansari Advocate has said that the government’s performance regarding prolonged electricity load shedding, inadequate monsoon preparedness, and growing civic problems is extremely disappointing. He said that unannounced power outages during the ongoing intense heatwave have made life miserable for citizens, traders, and the business community. He further stated that despite the approaching monsoon season, there are no effective arrangements for cleaning drainage channels in low-lying areas. He expressed these views while addressing a press conference at the Syed Maududi Islamic Centre. The event was also attended by Deputy Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore Khalid Ahmed Butt, Chaudhry Muhammad Shaukat, President of the Public Aid Committee Qaiser Sharif, Secretary Shahid Naveed Malik, and Aamir Noor Khan.Expressing deep sorrow over the recent academy tragedy, Ziauddin Ansari Advocate said that the government had officially declared 346 buildings as unsafe, including 135 educational institutions. Regrettably, no effective action has yet been taken against these hazardous buildings. As a result, after every major tragedy, government representatives merely express sympathy and condolences, while the failure to take preventive measures continues to put precious human lives at risk.He further stated that educational institutions outsourced or handed over to the private sector in Punjab are in a deplorable condition and require immediate reforms. Instead of strengthening the education system, the Punjab government’s policies have pushed it towards further deterioration, which is highly condemnable. Teachers working in outsourced institutions receive inadequate salaries, while many old school buildings have been neglected for years without proper maintenance. He urged the government to immediately restore these institutions and improve educational facilities. The Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore also pointed out that no effective drainage management system exists in low-lying areas ahead of the monsoon season. Referring to last year’s flooding along the Ravi River, he said several settlements suffered extensive damage. He urged the government to strengthen protective embankments before the arrival of heavy monsoon rains and take immediate measures to safeguard the lives and property of residents living along the riverbanks.Addressing the Punjab Chief Minister and the provincial government, he said that instead of taking pride in a Rs. 12 billion aircraft, the government should concentrate on providing essential public services. Electricity load shedding must be brought to an end immediately. Governments, he remarked, are run through sound planning, effective governance, and practical measures—not merely through prayers. He urged the authorities to demonstrate seriousness in addressing the public’s problems. He also announced that Alkhidmat Foundation Lahore has established a “Monsoon Rescue Cell” to respond to any emergency during the rainy season. Volunteers and workers of Jamaat-e-Islami are fully prepared to assist citizens in every possible way. He reaffirmed that Jamaat-e-Islami will continue to raise its voice at every forum for the protection of public rights and the resolution of people’s problems.
