Lahore: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore, Ziauddin Ansari Advocate, while addressing a press conference at the Syed Maududi Islamic Centre, strongly condemned the district administration for allowing Basant amid poor arrangements and the tragic incidents of citizens being injured by dangerous kite strings.He stated that granting permission for Basant is tantamount to playing with the lives of citizens. Despite the ban, weak enforcement and inadequate administrative arrangements have resulted in repeated incidents of citizens being injured by kite strings, which clearly reflects the serious negligence of the district administration.Ziauddin Ansari Advocate said that if Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif wishes to allow Basant, she must also clearly state who will bear the responsibility in case of any loss of life. He added that even before Basant, the district administration appears to have failed in ensuring the safety of citizens’ lives and property.He demanded that kite flying and all life-threatening activities in the name of Basant be stopped immediately. He emphasized that strict and effective measures are essential to protect citizens, and called for across-the-board action against those responsible for negligence and violations.The Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore further stressed the need for a clear, effective, and enforceable policy regarding Basant, warning that administrative negligence is putting precious human lives at serious risk.The press conference was attended by Secretary General Azhar Bilal, Qaiser Sharif, Shahid Naveed Malik, and other party leaders.
