Valentine’s Day Promotes Immorality and Contradicts Our Religious and Social Values

Lahore: The Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore, Zia-ud-Din Ansari Advocate, has stated that Valentine’s Day is contrary to our religious, social, and family values and that its promotion is contributing to moral decline in society. He remarked that Valentine’s Day has become synonymous with indecency and obscenity. In his statement, he urged that February 14 should be observed at the governmental level as a “Day of Modesty” to promote modesty, chastity, and the protection of the family system in society. He emphasized that Islam is a complete code of life that regulates relations between men and women within the sacred bond of marriage and discourages all forms of indecency and immorality.He further stated that Pakistan is an Islamic state where social attitudes must be shaped in accordance with constitutional and religious values. According to him, certain segments of society, influenced by Western culture, are promoting such occasions, which may negatively impact the moral and social structure of the younger generation.He stressed that educational institutions, offices, and social organizations should arrange seminars, awareness programs, and events on February 14 to highlight the importance of modesty and the strengthening of the family system.Zia-ud-Din Ansari Advocate added that Islam grants women dignity, honor, and the right to chastity, and obligates men to safeguard these rights. He underscored that a strong and stable family system is the foundation of a stable society.He called upon the government to take effective measures to discourage the promotion of Valentine’s Day and associated activities, and to ensure the advancement of positive moral and religious values within society.
