Rulers travel in expensive jets while the public is forced to ride bicycles: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore Ziauddin Ansari Advocate

Lahore: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore Ziauddin Ansari Advocate has strongly condemned the recent increase in petroleum prices, terming it an anti-people decision. Speaking to the media during a protest demonstration, he said that the rulers are travelling in expensive jets while the common people, already burdened by inflation, are being forced to reduce their mobility and struggle for basic necessities. He stated that by increasing the petrol price by Rs. 55 per liter, the government has shifted the entire burden onto the shoulders of the public. Using global conditions as an excuse to raise petroleum prices is unjust and unfair to the poor and middle classes. He warned that this decision will trigger another wave of inflation, further worsening the economic hardships faced by ordinary citizens.Ziauddin Ansari Advocate demanded that instead of burdening the public, the government should immediately end the free petrol facilities provided to rulers and bureaucrats. He stressed that the prevailing protocol culture must be abolished and unnecessary privileges enjoyed by the elite should be withdrawn. He further urged the government to immediately announce the closure of at least half of the official government vehicles to reduce the financial burden on the national exchequer. He also said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif must take practical steps if he genuinely wants to provide relief to the people. The government should end unnecessary expenditures, including the use of official jets and other luxurious facilities, so that national resources can be utilized for public welfare. He demanded that the recent increase in petroleum prices be withdrawn immediately and that the government adopt concrete and sustainable economic measures to protect the public from the ongoing wave of inflation.
