
Lahore: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore, Ziauddin Ansari Advocate, has stated that prolonged and unannounced electricity and gas load shedding has made life miserable for citizens, severely affecting both business activities and household routines. He added that the aftershocks of increased petroleum prices are continuously burdening the public in the form of rising inflation.He expressed these views while addressing a meeting of district office-bearers of Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore at Syed Maududi Islamic Center.He said that the district administration appears helpless before the LPG and inflation mafia, as LPG is not available anywhere in the city at official rates, forcing citizens to purchase it at exorbitant prices. This situation, he noted, reflects the government’s failure.Ziauddin Ansari demanded that the government immediately reduce petroleum prices to provide relief to the public and put an end to unannounced electricity and gas load shedding so that normal life and business activities can be restored.He emphasized that Jamaat-e-Islami cannot remain indifferent to public issues and will further intensify its struggle for the rights of the people, raising its voice against government inefficiency at every forum.The meeting was chaired by Ziauddin Ansari Advocate, during which the overall political situation of the city, municipal issues, and rising inflation were discussed in detail.The meeting was attended by Secretary General Azhar Bilal, Deputy Ameers Engineer Akhlaq Ahmed, Malik Shahid Aslam, Khalid Ahmed Butt, Chaudhry Muhammad Shaukat, Waqar Ahmed Butt, and Deputy Secretaries Aamir Nisar Khan, Qaiser Sharif, Syed Rashid Dawood, Jibran Butt, and Shoaib Yaqoob, along with other office-bearers.A unanimous resolution was passed demanding that the Government of Punjab immediately hold local government elections in the city. On this occasion, the Ameer Lahore stated that the existing local government law is contrary to the Constitution of Pakistan and that the provincial government is not serious about devolving power to the grassroots level, which has led to increasing urban problems.Participants of the meeting strongly condemned excessive load shedding of electricity and gas and expressed deep concern over rising petroleum prices and unemployment.
