Key meeting of Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore office-bearers reviews preparations for local government elections and public issues
Lahore: A key meeting of the office-bearers of Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore was held at Syed Maududi Islamic Centre under the chairmanship of Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore, Ziauddin Ansari Advocate. The meeting was attended by Secretary General Azhar Bilal, Deputy Ameers Engineer Ikhlaq Ahmad, Khalid Ahmad Butt, Malik Shahid Aslam, Chaudhry Muhammad Shaukat and Waqas Ahmad Butt, along with district ameers, heads of various departments and office-bearers of JI Youth Lahore.The meeting reviewed the party’s organizational affairs, preparations for the upcoming local government elections and its future strategy. Participants agreed on formulating a comprehensive election plan, strengthening the organizational structure and enhancing public outreach. Preparations for the forthcoming Ijtema-e-Arkaan (Members’ Convention) of Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore were also discussed in detail.The participants strongly condemned unannounced electricity load-shedding, artificial price hikes in markets and bazaars, administrative negligence and the hardships being faced by citizens. The meeting expressed serious concern over attempts by some petrol pump owners to create an artificial fuel shortage and demanded immediate and strict legal action against those responsible.Addressing the meeting, Ziauddin Ansari Advocate urged the government not to increase petroleum prices and to ensure an uninterrupted supply of fuel across the country so that the public does not suffer unnecessary hardship.He also criticized the prolonged closure of water filtration plants in urban areas during the intense summer heat, poor sanitation arrangements and the deteriorating state of basic civic services. He called on the administration to immediately restore essential public services and ensure the provision of clean drinking water and improved sanitation facilities.Expressing concern over the country’s overall situation, Ziauddin Ansari Advocate said that the rulers’ deviation from democratic principles is the fundamental cause of Pakistan’s ongoing political, economic and governance crises. He further stated that the worsening law and order situation, rising terrorism and continued political instability require urgent national attention.He emphasized that a new phase of meaningful political dialogue is indispensable for resolving the country’s crises, achieving national consensus and restoring political and economic stability.He further demanded that the government take effective measures to maintain an uninterrupted supply of petroleum products, bring those responsible for creating an artificial fuel crisis to justice and protect the public from the growing burden of inflation.Reaffirming Jamaat-e-Islami’s commitment to public welfare, Ziauddin Ansari Advocate stated that the party would further intensify its struggle for the protection of citizens’ rights, the restoration of an effective local government system and the resolution of Lahore’s civic problems.
