Punjab Government Should Sell Rs. 11 Billion Aircraft to Provide Relief to the Public

Lahore: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore, Zia-ud-Din Ansari Advocate, has strongly condemned the alarming rise in inflation and the extravagant expenditures of the ruling elite. He expressed deep concern over the worsening economic conditions and emphasized that, given the financial challenges facing the country, it is imperative for the ruling class to adopt simplicity and austerity in their lifestyles.He stated that the Chief Minister of Punjab should set an example by selling the Rs. 11 billion aircraft, while the Chairman Senate should also sell his Rs. 90 million vehicle, and the proceeds should be used to provide relief to the public. He added that the people are already burdened by inflation and financial pressure, and it is the responsibility of the rulers to reduce personal expenses and avoid unnecessary luxuries. State resources, he said, are a trust of the public and must be used with responsibility and transparency. By demonstrating simplicity, honesty, and austerity, rulers can restore public trust and contribute to economic stability.President JI Youth Lahore, Jibran Butt, while addressing a protest demonstration against inflation on Mall Road, said that the rulers should stop deceiving the public in the name of austerity. He highlighted that petrol prices are soaring, while vegetables, pulses, and other essential commodities have become unaffordable for the common man. He said that poor citizens are being pushed towards hunger, transporters are charging excessive fares, and the inflation mafia is exploiting the public.He further stated that the government remains limited to claims and promises, with no visible practical measures. Jamaat-e-Islami, he said, has stepped forward to represent the voice of the people during this difficult time. He demanded the immediate sale of the Chief Minister’s aircraft and the Chairman Senate’s vehicle, with the funds allocated for public welfare.Jibran Butt warned that if the government fails to take immediate steps to provide relief, Jamaat-e-Islami will expand its movement across Lahore and launch a grassroots campaign to mobilize the public.A large number of youth and workers, including Deputy Secretary Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore Aamir Nisar Khan and Secretary JI Youth Hamza Bilal, participated in the protest demonstration. The participants chanted slogans against government extravagance and criticized what they termed as misleading austerity measures. They reiterated the demand that the Punjab government sell the Rs. 11 billion aircraft and use the funds to provide relief to the public. They also called for the sale of the Chairman Senate’s Rs. 90 million vehicle and urged the government to reduce petrol prices and ensure the availability of essential commodities for the common man.
