Preparations for the August 7 “Road Blockade Protest” Intensify as the Business Community Extends Full Support
Lahore: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore, Ziauddin Ansari Advocate, held meetings with representatives of various trade bodies and business leaders in Lahore as part of the preparations for the “Road Blockade Protest” scheduled for August 7 against soaring inflation, the petroleum levy, rising electricity costs, and anti-people economic policies.During the meetings, Malik Khalid Mehmood, President of the National Traders Alliance Pakistan, and Sheikh Abdul Rab, President of the Brandreth Road Traders Association, announced their full support for the August 7 protest. They stated that the business community is also facing severe economic challenges and that supporting the legitimate demands of the people is both a national responsibility and the need of the hour.Ziauddin Ansari Advocate also visited various commercial markets, where he met traders, participated in a door-to-door public outreach campaign, and distributed informational handbills regarding the protest. He urged the business community to participate actively in the August 7 protest and raise a united voice against inflation, the petroleum levy, and the ever-increasing financial burden on the public.Speaking on the occasion, he said that Jamaat-e-Islami has always remained at the forefront of the struggle for the protection of public rights, economic justice, and the welfare of the people. He emphasized that the August 7 protest will be entirely peaceful, constitutional, and democratic, with the objective of conveying the legitimate concerns and demands of the people to the government.He further stated that Jamaat-e-Islami’s protest represents the sentiments, hardships, and aspirations of ordinary Pakistanis. He expressed confidence that a historic public protest would be held on August 7 in Lahore and across the country, with the participation of traders, youth, students, workers, lawyers, and people from all walks of life.
