LAHORE (Umar Hayat CH) Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore organized road caravans and rallies across the city as part of preparations for the Super Long March against the petroleum levy. Large numbers of party workers, youth and citizens participated in rallies held on motorcycles and in vehicles across different areas of Lahore.
Road caravans were organized in Mansoorah, Green Town, Muslim Town Mor, Canal Road and other areas of the city. The rallies were attended by district and local leaders, workers and a large number of citizens.
Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami South Lahore Mirza Abdul Rasheed participated in the rallies along with Muhammad Sajid Khan, Waqas Ahmed Butt, Sheikh Basharat Ali and Engineer Ahmed Salman. Vice Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami West Lahore Zahoor Ahmed Watto and Deputy Secretary General Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore Abdul Aziz Abid also participated.
Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami East Lahore Mian Khawar Nazir, along with a large number of young people, citizens and party workers, also participated in the road caravans.
Speaking on the occasion, Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore Ziauddin Ansari Advocate said that the train march starting from Karachi today would mark a major step in the ongoing struggle for public rights and would lay the foundation for an Islamic revolution.
He said that Jamaat-e-Islami was the only political force consistently raising its voice for the genuine rights of the people and translating its demands into practical struggle.
Ziauddin Ansari Advocate warned ministers speaking about petrol prices reaching up to Rs1,000 per litre to take notice of the difficulties being faced by the people.
He said that the Super Long March is aimed at the abolition of the petroleum levy, adding that the government would have to withdraw the levy.
He appealed to the people to participate in the march in large numbers and raise their voice for the protection of their rights.
The Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore said that Lahore would give a historic welcome to the march and thousands of people would join it from the city. He further said that the government would have to abolish the levy, otherwise it could face serious public reaction.
