Lahore: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore, Ziauddin Ansari Advocate, has welcomed the recent action taken against corrupt elements within the PERA Force and termed it a positive step towards accountability and rule of law.He stated that certain officials of the PERA Force have been involved in extortion and have shown unacceptable behaviour towards citizens, which is strongly condemnable. “Such conduct damages public trust in law enforcement institutions,” he added.Ziauddin Ansari further said that the destruction of goods belonging to poor street vendors and the humiliation of ordinary citizens is completely intolerable and against the principles of justice and good governance.He highlighted that Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore has already submitted multiple complaints regarding the misconduct of PERA Force personnel to the relevant higher authorities, demanding strict action.Welcoming the notice taken by the Chief Minister of Punjab, he said it is a positive development; however, he stressed that all responsible officials must be dealt with strictly under the law without any discrimination.He added that the removal of corrupt elements from the PERA Force would help restore the confidence of traders, street vendors, and the general public.Emphasizing the role of law enforcement agencies, he stated that respecting the dignity and honour of citizens must remain a top priority under all circumstances.Concluding his statement, he said that effective and transparent government measures can significantly reduce the problems faced by citizens, traders, and street vendors in Lahore.
