He stated that the continuous increase in petroleum prices has become an unbearable economic burden on ordinary citizens, while soaring inflation and unemployment have made life extremely difficult for millions of families. He said that while the public is struggling under the weight of inflation, excessive taxation and the petroleum levy, the ruling elite continues to enjoy lavish expenditures, privileges and protocol without any reduction. Instead of providing relief, the government is imposing additional financial burdens on the people, a situation that can no longer be tolerated. The Lahore JI chief said that the August 7 wheel-jam protest will serve as a public referendum against inflation, the petroleum levy and anti-people economic policies. Through this peaceful democratic protest, the people will send a clear message that they reject policies that continue to increase their economic hardships. He appealed to the people of Lahore, particularly traders, transporters, workers, youth and all citizens, to participate in the peaceful and constitutional protest by parking their vehicles on major roads on August 7, thereby making their collective voice heard. He added that, like the rest of the country, Lahore would also witness a massive wheel-jam protest on August 7, with people taking to the streets in large numbers to register their peaceful protest.
