Citizens’ Privacy, Property Rights and Sanctity of Homes Must Not Be Compromised: Ziauddin Ansari Advocate

Government Must Review the Controversial Tower Bill and Protect Fundamental Rights

Accountability Should Extend Beyond the Minister to the Entire Policy-Making Process and Bureaucracy

Every Citizen Has the Right to Object to the Installation of Telecom Towers in Their Neighborhood.

Lahore (Umar Hayat CH)Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore, Ziauddin Ansari Advocate, has strongly criticized the controversial legislation concerning the installation of telecom towers, stating that ignoring citizens’ privacy, the sanctity of their homes, and their legitimate property rights reflects serious administrative failure and undermines constitutional freedoms. He said that every citizen must have the legal and constitutional right to object to the installation of a telecom tower in or around their residential area. No legislation should deprive people of their right to be heard on matters that directly affect their homes, families, health, and property. He urged the government to immediately review the controversial law and ensure the protection of citizens’ fundamental rights, private property, and constitutional guarantees. Ziauddin Ansari Advocate further stated that if the bill is indeed controversial and against the public interest, holding only the minister responsible is neither sufficient nor just. Accountability must also include those who drafted the legislation, conducted its legal scrutiny, processed the official files, and recommended its approval. He demanded a transparent inquiry into the entire legislative process, including the role of the Ministry of Information Technology, the concerned bureaucracy, and all officials involved in drafting and advancing the proposed law.He reaffirmed that Jamaat-e-Islami will continue to raise its voice at every democratic and constitutional forum to safeguard citizens’ fundamental rights and will oppose any legislation that compromises the sanctity of homes, private property, and civil liberties.
